Subjects Taught
4th Grade

I received my Associates degree in education at Northwest Community College, my bachelor of science degree in Education at Delta State University, and Master of Arts degrees in both literature and linguistics at the University of Memphis. I have taken post graduate classes at the University of Illinois at Chicago while teaching college composition and literature courses. I have also received a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate from the University of West Bohemia in Plzen, Czech Republic. I am currently working on my National Board Certification in Special Education.

The summer before beginning my teaching career, I taught English in the Czech Republic to adults and children, which was a phenomonal experience! My first four "official" years of teaching were teaching English at Horn Lake High School. Then I went to Chicago and taught English for a year at Hirsch Metro High School. I caught the traveling bug once again and spent the next three years teaching English to the English in England, grades 5-10, in both private and public schools. Back in Mississippi, I taught English for four years at Independence High School, one year at SBEC (Now Northpoint), and came to SIS in 2014 to teach special education. I graduated from Southaven High School and am so happy to be a Charger once again!

I am absolutely thrilled to be teaching at SIS since I was a Charger myself from 7th-12th grades! I was born and raised in Chicago until the age of 12, when my family moved to Southaven, MS. Even though I have traveled and lived in other countries for up to a few years at a time, Southaven is the city I call home.

I am an active member of Cornerstone Church and involved in several ministries around Desoto County.

I love to write poetry and short stories, to read just about anything, but especially science fiction, and to travel. I am so thankful to be at SIS teaching these amazing kids!
