University of Mississippi - Bachelor of Education Degree

Experience

My very early teaching years were spent in the Kindergarten classroom. I taught 15 years with Pre-K and Kindergarten students in several Christian Schools.

In 2006, I became employed with the Desoto County School System as a 3rd grade teacher at Greenbrook Elementary School. When Hope Sullivan and Greenbrook schools merged in 2008, 3rd through 5th grades were moved to Southaven Intermediate School. While at SIS, I have taught both 3rd and 4th grades. This will be my 12th year teaching for Desoto County Schools.

Bio

In 1969, I moved to Southaven and attended Desoto County Schools (Hope Sullivan Elementary & Southaven Junior High). I graduated from Southaven High School in 1980 and also from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

I have 3 grown children: Sharilyn, Jonathan, and Stephanie.

Along with my children, I have been blessed with FIVE beautiful grandchildren.

Emma-Grace is a 6th grader at Southaven Middle School. Jaylon is a 3rd grader here at Southaven Intermediate School. Katie-Marie is in Kindergarten at Hope Sullivan Elementary School, and Marley is in pre-school at Carriage Hills Baptist Church. Maysie is a newborn and stays home with her mommie!

In addition to my 'people' family, I have furry family members. "Coco" is an adorable "Chia-poo" (toy poodle/chihuahua). I 'inherited' him when my mother had to be put in an assisted living home. "Binkie" is a beautiful Yorkie that I adopted from a rescue.  My two boys (dogs) are definitely a huge part of my family life.                .................................................................................................

Favorite Speakers:

Joyce Meyer: "No matter what your circumstance or situation is, you can choose to change. You can choose to hope. You can choose to experience the life Jesus died to give you. Now get up and go!"

"Sometimes when you’ve had a long series of disappointing things happen, you can get into the very bad habit of just expecting more of what you’ve already had. You’ve been through a lot of trouble and you’re simply waiting for more to come.    Today is your day to start believing something good is going to happen to you! God is working in your life right now, and when you get your breakthrough, it will be the result of what God has been doing for a long time. Whether you see it or feel it or not, keep praying and expecting, because God is longing to be gracious and good to you."

Beth Moore:"Your life and mine will be well lived and greatly influential if we simply ask God to empower us to do that for which we were created."

Joel Osteen:"Friend, no matter what things look like, no matter what other people say, God has equipped you with everything you need to accomplish your dreams. Quit allowing other people to tell you what you don’t have and what you can’t do!"

T.D. Jakes: "Sometimes God has to take care of a few things before we can move forward.  And sometimes we just need to stop and get out of God’s way."

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: "Though my natural instinct is to wish for a life free from pain, trouble, and adversity, I am learning to welcome anything that makes me conscious of my need for Him. If prayer is birthed out of desperation, then anything that makes me desperate for God is a blessing."
