Subjects Taught
3rd Grade

University of Mississippi - Bachelor of Education Degree

My very early teaching years were spent in the Kindergarten classroom. I taught 15 years with Pre-K and Kindergarten students in several Christian Schools.

In 2006, I became employed with the Desoto County School System as a 3rd grade teacher at Greenbrook Elementary School. When Hope Sullivan and Greenbrook schools merged in 2008, 3rd through 5th grades were moved to Southaven Intermediate School. While at SIS, I have taught both 3rd and 4th grades. This will be my 13th year teaching for Desoto County Schools.

In 1969, I moved to Southaven and attended Desoto County Schools (Hope Sullivan Elementary & Southaven Junior High). I graduated from Southaven High School in 1980 and also from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

I have 3 grown children: Sharilyn, Jonathan, and Stephanie, and FIVE beautiful grandchildren who call me "Neenie".

Emma-Grace is a 7th grader at Southaven Middle School. Jaylon is a 4th grader here at Southaven Intermediate School. Katie-Marie is in 1st grade at Greenbrook Elementary School. Marley is in Kindergarten at Hope Sullivan Elementary School. Maysie is a just a baby and stays home with her mommie!

In addition to my 'people' family, I have furry family members. "Coco" is an adorable "Chia-poo" (toy poodle/chihuahua). I 'inherited' him when my mother had to be put in an assisted living home. "Binkie" is a beautiful Yorkie that was abandoned by his owner, that I happily adopted as my own. My two boys (dogs) are definitely a huge part of my family life.

My home also has feathery family members. They are my cockatiels, Peaches, Malibu, and Cricket. I also have two tiny love birds that are just precious! Lots of shrills, screeches, whistling, singing, and chirping going on during the day, but I love it!

This-n-that information........

Birthday ~ March 28th

Color ~ I like all of the primary colors!

Activities: Most of my free time is spent with my grandchildren and taking care of my mother (Dementia) who is now in an assisted living home. I also enjoy taking my dogs for walks in the evenings and sitting on my patio listening to the beautiful sounds of nature!

Favorite Things: Two of my most favorite things are plants and flowers. I love hanging baskets, vases, pots, etc....anything to do with plants and flowers.

"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow."

"Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together, make this world a beautiful garden."

"Teachers plant the seeds of knowledge that last a lifetime."

Proverbs 22:6 (New International Version)

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
