About the Teacher/Welcome Msg

Hello I am Miss Burks!! I am from Hernando, MS.

This will be my 3rd year at SIS and teaching 3rd grade ELA.

I spent my whole life in Hernando, MS but have lived in Nesbit, MS for the last year.

When I am not at school I am with my family or friends, traveling or in bed watching Netflix.

I am so excited to have your child in my class for the 2021/2022 school year and to share my love of reading with them!

I am a graduate of Hernando High School (2014), Northwest Mississippi Community College (2017) where I received my Associates of Arts degree, and The University of Mississippi (2019) where I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education (K-6). I have endorsements in science (7-12), social studies (7-12), and Mild/Moderate SPED (K-12). I recently graduated from Arkansas State University (2021) with my MSE  in Reading. I decided that I love learning so much that I will be continuing my education and going back to Arkansas State University this fall to pursue by Ed.S in Educational Leadership, Principalship!
